My 30th Birthday

Home

I was expecting my 30th birthday to be quite a sedate affair, with 7 or 8 of us going to a comedy club in Reading on a Saturday night and possibly staying on for the 'disco' afterwards. Instead, my "friends" plotted a surprise in the form of my best friend from uni, Richie, arriving from Holland with his girlfriend Rebecca on the Thursday. I was home, ill, and seeing them gave me my first heart attack (though i didn't know it wouldn't be my last).

We went to dinner that evening at Blubeckers in Eversley and ate and drank in style (9 of us) - Sam had also arranged for me to have the day off on Friday to spend with Richie and Rebecca.

On Saturday afternoon i was distracted by Richie putting Steve McQueen's film, "Le Mans", on the telly. What i didn't know was that some 30 or so people were congregating around my garage and Sam and Sean had stolen my TVR keys.... so when i heard the TVR roaring away i naturally went to see what was going on, and that's when i got my proper heart attack!!!

Turns out the masterminds here were Steve and Sean, ably assisted by Sam (the spy) and Richie (the first surprise/decoy) and not only had they arranged all of this, including a bbq and food and drink and lots of my friends, but they had also bought me a BOSE SoundDock to plug my iPod into!

So, what more can i say, but THANK YOU to all those involved in making my 30th birthday party a time when i realise that I have the very best friends I could ever ask for.
